I have been extremely lame recently with updating the blog and website. And the one thing I always tell clients is to keep everything updated, as often as you can. No matter how busy you are. So I’m completely ignoring my own advice right there. I’m hoping that there will be new work showcased this year and new projects to blog about.
First off, since late 2015 I have been working on a book as part of the HeadStart Primary series. The writers are on board and it’s really exciting stuff. Each year group will have a different theme, and all the tests for that age group are focused on the story itself. Rather than just snippets of random text and paragraphs here and there. It’s the kind of thing I would have remembered if we’d have had it at school, so I’m pretty excited to be working on it. As I write this, the first book is almost complete. As always, there are trials and teething problems, it’s all part of the process to get it spot on. So my past few months have involved various research into Pirates! The next theme is still a secret, but judging from what has been drafted up, it’s going to be pretty exciting. I’ve included a few sneak peeks below at the initial draft artwork. Watch this space for release dates.
I’m also working on developing various guides, technical drawings and instructions for a series of shower bases and bathroom items. The product is taking off extremely well, and looking forward for 2016, there looks like a nice selection of varying challenges to tackle. Designing instructions for shower installations is quite a change to drawing a pirate ship. I love that every day is a little bit different.
There are a lot more illustration projects in the pipeline for 2016, which really excites me. Due to this, a new drawing board and standing desk has been fitted in the studio. 2016 is going to be quite a varying year by the looks of things so far, which is very exciting! And it keeps me on my toes!
